Clearpath Robotics

Clearpath Robotics builds autonomous mobile robot platforms for research and industrial automation. Founded in 2009 by four University of Waterloo engineering graduates — Matthew Rendall, Ryan Gariepy, Pat Martinson, and Bryan Webb — the company is headquartered in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Clearpath was acquired by Rockwell Automation in September 2023.

Clearpath’s research platforms — including the Husky (medium outdoor UGV), Jackal (compact field robot), Warthog (large all-terrain, amphibious), and Dingo (compact indoor) — are used in hundreds of universities and research labs worldwide. All platforms ship ROS 2-ready with pre-integrated sensors.

Through their industrial division OTTO Motors (launched 2015), Clearpath delivers autonomous mobile robots for material handling in factories and warehouses, transporting heavy payloads safely alongside human workers.
