Samsung Electronics, founded on January 13, 1969, is a South Korean multinational and one of the world’s largest technology companies. Headquartered in Suwon, South Korea, Samsung’s home appliance division has been a notable player in the robotic vacuum market.
Samsung’s robot vacuum lineup has evolved from the NaviBot (circa 2010) to the POWERbot series (2015–2020) and the current Jet Bot line (2021–present). The Jet Bot AI+ features object recognition using onboard AI, while the latest Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI (2024) combines vacuuming and mopping with dual rotating pads.
Samsung also develops the Ballie, a spherical AI companion robot first shown at CES 2020 and updated at CES 2024/2025, featuring a built-in 1080p projector and AI capabilities. In December 2024, Samsung became the largest shareholder (35%) of Rainbow Robotics, the South Korean company founded by KAIST researchers who built the Hubo humanoid (winner of the 2015 DARPA Robotics Challenge). Samsung has since established a Future Robotics Office to accelerate humanoid and service robot development.
