SoftBank Pepper
SoftBank Pepper was the world’s most recognized social robot, deployed in thousands of businesses worldwide. Standing at 120 cm (4 feet) tall, Pepper reads emotions through facial analysis and voice tone, adapting its responses to match the user’s mood. It supports over 20 languages and holds engaging conversations.
Note: SoftBank Robotics halted Pepper production in 2021, citing weak demand. While existing units remain in use across retail, hospitality, and healthcare settings, new units are no longer manufactured. Some refurbished units may still be available through third-party resellers. The Pepper platform remains historically significant as one of the first mass-produced social robots.
