Furby (2023 Reboot)

Our Verdict: A fun nostalgic toy for Furby fans, but not a true AI companion. The 600+ responses and voice activation are entertaining, but interactions are scripted, not intelligent. Great as a gift for kids 6+.

The 2023 Furby marks the 25th anniversary of Hasbro’s iconic interactive toy. This fifth-generation reboot features a refreshed design with colourful fur, light-up ears, and five voice-activated play modes: Dance Party, Copy Cat, Tell My Fortune, Let’s Chill, and Lightshow.

With over 600 pre-programmed responses and the ability to react to petting, shaking, and feeding, it’s a charming interactive toy, but it is not AI-powered. Unlike some marketing might suggest, the 2023 Furby does not connect to the internet, has no app, and does not use generative AI. It’s a self-contained animatronic toy with scripted voice interactions.
