John Deere See & Spray Ultimate
AI vision-guided precision sprayer reducing herbicide use by 77% with per-weed targeting.
The Blue River Technology LettuceBot (a John Deere company) is a tractor-mounted precision thinning machine that uses computer vision to identify individual lettuce seedlings and selectively remove excess plants to achieve optimal spacing. Processing 900,000 plants per hour, it makes millisecond decisions on which plants to keep and which to remove.
Lettuce thinning has traditionally required crews of 20+ hand laborers crawling through fields. The LettuceBot replaces this intensive labor with AI precision, achieving more uniform plant spacing than manual thinning while operating at tractor speed. Better spacing leads to more uniform head size and higher packout rates.
