Rainbow Robotics HUBO
DARPA Challenge winner with proven disaster response, vehicle driving, and complex manipulation.
Rainbow Robotics is a South Korean robotics company founded in 2011 in Daejeon by researchers from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). The team previously built HUBO, the humanoid robot that won the 2015 DARPA Robotics Challenge.
Rainbow Robotics develops collaborative robots (cobots) including the RB5 and RB10 series for industrial automation. In December 2024, Samsung Electronics became the company’s largest shareholder with a 35% stake, making Rainbow Robotics a Samsung subsidiary. Samsung subsequently established a Future Robotics Office to accelerate humanoid and service robot development leveraging Rainbow’s technology.
