Asensus Surgical Senhance
Digital laparoscopic robot with eye-tracking camera control, haptic feedback, and reusable instruments.
The Stryker SurgiCount+ is an AI-powered RFID system designed to prevent one of surgery’s most serious never-events: retained surgical items. Every sponge and towel used during surgery contains an RFID tag, and the system tracks each item in real-time, automatically detecting if any item remains inside the patient before the incision is closed.
The system uses overhead RFID scanners and AI algorithms to maintain a real-time count without requiring manual scanning by OR staff. Clinical studies show a 100% detection rate for tagged items, virtually eliminating the risk of retained sponges that affects approximately 1 in 1,000 abdominal surgeries with manual counting methods.

|---|---|
| Detection Rate | 100% tagged item detection |
| Scanning | Overhead automatic + handheld wand |
