Medtronic Hugo RAS
Modular surgical robot with independent arm carts and open architecture for flexible OR integration.
The Mazor X Align (now part of Medtronic) is a robotic guidance system specifically designed for spine surgery. It creates a detailed 3D surgical plan before the operation and then guides the surgeon’s instruments with sub-millimeter accuracy during screw placement, one of the most critical and risk-prone steps in spinal procedures.
Clinical studies show Mazor-guided spine surgeries result in 98.9% accuracy in screw placement compared to approximately 90% with freehand technique. This precision reduces the need for revision surgeries, lowers radiation exposure for patients and staff, and improves overall outcomes for patients undergoing spinal fusion and other complex spine procedures.
| Specialty | Spine surgery guidance |
|---|---|
| Accuracy | 98.9% screw placement accuracy |
| Planning | 3D preoperative surgical planning |
| Guidance | Real-time robotic instrument guidance |
| Imaging | Intraoperative 3D imaging integration |
| Procedures | Spinal fusion, deformity correction |
