The Kinova Gen3 7-DOF is the flagship research arm from Kinova, offering 7 degrees of freedom, an integrated Intel RealSense depth camera in the wrist, and force/torque sensing for comprehensive manipulation research. At 8.2 kg, it remains lightweight enough for mobile manipulation applications.
The Gen3’s Kortex API provides low-level joint control, high-level Cartesian control, and direct access to all sensor data. Pre-built ROS2 packages, MoveIt configuration, and Gazebo/Isaac Sim models allow researchers to start experiments quickly. It is particularly popular for AI-based manipulation research.
